I Answered Your Call In Art Class

I Answered Your Call In Art Class

A Poem by Too Many Fires

I answered your call
even though it was in art
I didn't care
I still got to hear your voice
To grasp it before it is just a memory
That replays over and over.

I answered your texts
Even though I'm in school
I didn't care
I still got to read words you spent time just to say to me
To grasp it before they are only memories
That I will reread over and over.

Airports are big
Don't get lost
I need you back here
Last night was the worst
I was kicked out
I didn't have the heart to tell you
I didn't want it to be the last thing you heard
Where it would replay over and over.

I keep holding on
Just for you
So please hurry up soon
I know it will be almost 33 weeks
But I am willing to try not to completely break
For I love you and do not want you to have to hear it so far away
I don't want it to be the last thing to replay.
