Why?

Why?

A Poem by 1blaquote
"

Change this reality...Change the world!

"

Why do we live in one of the richest countries in the world,

yet people are dying from starvation?

Why do we claim to protect our children,

but allow the molestors to have their own organization?

Why do we punish hate crimes,

but support racial profiling discrimination?

Why do we preach democracy to other nations,

but temper with the process of voter registration?

Why do we promise the world to soldiers going off to war,

and when they return, offer them homeless shelter accommidation?

Why do we send food and clothes to Africa,

while adding more weapons to the rebel's genocide deformation?

Why do we claim to be concerned with the health of our nation,

But veto the bill that provided health care for the working population?

Why do we claim to aid and assist our senior citizens,

but give tax breaks to those who inflate the price of their medication?

Why do we citicize the prison conditions of 3rd world countries,

when our death penalty has a 60% rate of error with no explanation?

Why do we claim no child will be left behind,

yet we continue to close schools and programs without justification?

Why do we claim to care for the mentally ill,

while refusing treatment due to administrative complication?

Why do we go to other countries and provide housing for the poor,

but offer America's homeless little more than hopeless damnation?

Why do we claim to be winning the war on drugs,

yet supporting the pharmicutical controlled substance manipulation?

Why do we claim to believe in God,

but use hate and fear to control one's personal salvation?

Why do we ask questions,

while still yielding one's self to this passive realization?

Why?

The biggest 'question' of all is; why, when we know the answers to all the questions you asked, are we doing nothing?

The solutions lay in the hands of those willing to stand up and be counted. The difference between self-centred motives and people-centred actions is obvious and the time for action is now!

Solidly written and poignantly addressed. It is the kind of statement that should be put up on a large billboard, in front of all our governmental offices.

Thanks for the share!

The blatant loopholes and hypocricies in the "American" version of "by the people" and for "the people"
are just too much sometimes.

Often a method of distraction from ones own faults and crimes...is to point the finger at someone elses...it distacts for a bit...but "whats' done in the dark will come to the light !

An important and poignant expose' !Very well done....Questions asked...let us begin to unite for common answers...Better yet let us demand them!

Can't say I agree with all of it. though I wouldn't want to debate you in a review. There are so many whys and I would have to say you picked some very important ones. Keep the words flowing.

Wow, lots of emotion backing this one up. I really like the rhyming and flow and the whole idea is pretty cool.

Wow, very moving. I don't really care for anti establishment too much but you did it in a tasteful manner that I can really appreciate. The only criticism that I can offer is the color scheme. It may just be my sh*ty eyes but it was hard to read at points due to it. I think it would be easier if you chose one color and stuck with it. I really liked this and will continue to search for your work.
