Fractals

i stare at the light and see beyond it
all of the tiny particles break apart
into individual colors
skipping about
looking like fairies or
hummingbird wings
the hum drowns out its surroundings
transporting me into
a sea of black and purple dots
i blink
and the light bulb comes back into focus
the only indication of my journey
just a small flicker on the edge of my vision.
