who who who

who who who

A Poem by annie lee
"

where do they come from?

"

who makes the monsters?

who brews the toxins and lies?
who hammers the steel,
blue-white hot into razor
edged swords and deadly daggers?

ancients blamed their gods,
gangs of fallible, venal,
careless deities
whose thoughtless antics often
bore monstrous results:  cyclops,

krakens, medusa
and sirens.  our gods, though, are
sober, grim and chaste;
they sire no monsters and leave
that willful sin at our feet.

As fallible humans, we're always looking for some place to put the blame, to find meaning in suffering. I like the sparse structure of this.
