If you stay, I will love you until the end of time. And beyond even that.

If you stay,
I will want for nothing
but the brilliance 
of your smile
against my lips.

your words will be hymns,
and I promise
to cherish them
as if they were gospel.

If you stay,
the long march of time
soldiering against
the dust of our vessels
will cease,
for your soul will be the sun
and I will be the stars.

If you stay,
I promise to love you
just as the fruits
love the harvest.

And when you go,
I promise
to never forsake
the ruins
of your cold throne.

Pretty poem. I love the way you said you would 'cherish her words as if they were gospel'. This poem is very deep and depressing in the sense that you used 'if' for stay and 'when' for go.
