Quiet Isolation

Quiet Isolation

A Poem by Lavina Achaccosa

I was once the lonely one,
The one atop the barren island,
Whose cold emptiness is never seen,
And whose cuts are never shown.

I walked the earth like a fief to the wind,
Whose peasant shoes must carry my feet,
Whose feet must carry my weight,
Whose weight must carry itself.

I thrashed at the gray seas,
Knowing I am someone to live and die
And I have no use to cry
When there's no one there, to wipe my tears away

And then I met the other me,
The other soulless soul from across all waters,
Whose fake smile made me real again,
The sight that will never end.

That face is a melody,
The song to soothe a silence
Those eyes see what I cannot,
A light shimmering from the sorrow.

He trudges the beaten path,
Like a bird wandering dead lands,
Like a bear, robbed of her young,
Searching, wishing for the walk to end

And the searching did cease
His body gleams to life
For his sorrow has ended
And the melody beat the rhythm his heart wishes.

His song sings of new life,
And the belief of living to die is but a joke
He gazes straight with his rare smile
And walks towards his walk's end

But I didn't want him to be happy,
For now I am by myself again,
Cursed to walk the endless Earth
Like a fief of the wind.

I was once the lonely one,
But now I am just isolated,
For without another soulless,
You can never be lonely.
