Who

A Poem by jemane
"
The age old question of "who am I." Been looking for a simple, singular answer to that. Not coming up with one. Likely isn't one, but that makes relationships hard to understand. Honestly, what do you think about the write?
"

The psyche

Broken into three

Conflicting, competing

Existing at the same time

All present within one

Dissimilar, rivals

A separated self

My mind

The Id

Craving, needing

Immediate gratification

Dammed be the consequences

Thoughtful deliberation, absent

Indulgence, delight

Pleasure and peace

My wants

The Ego

Reason, reality

Limits accepted

Fenced in by logic

Reality acknowledged

Compromise feasible

Accepting limits

My truth

The Super-ego

Perfect, correct

Principles are ruling

Denying errant desires

Guilt, promoting propriety

A disciplining body

Proper, faultlessness

My ethics

The person

Multi-faceted, changing

Confused and struggling

Searching always for acceptance

A work unfulfilled, progressing

Desire and guilt driven

Complex, learning

My self

The entity

One mentality

A single body

Defined and accepted or rejected

Identified and labeled, judged

An individual

Solitary process

My loss

Excellent write. It shows are complicated we are. Our wants, needs and desires
are coming from different places within ourselves. We are always in battle with ourselves
and that shows as we try to be in relationships with others who are having their
own inner battles!

Very well done here, I think.
