A Poem by Abhishek Ram
"

Writer's Block at its finest

"

I lay thinking, wondering what I should write about today,

But I felt like I had nothing to say,

In truth, I don’t know what to write about,

For inspiration, I still continue to scout.

I sat, staring at my computer screen,

Coming up with ideas, but throwing them out soon after,

“What is this? What does this mean?”

My mind fills with the sound of my own laughter.

And so, I left the page untitled, not knowing what to do,

Because I can’t write now right now,

Because the ideas I like number so few,

I throw rotten tomatoes at myself, because “Holy cow!

My ideas suck.”

I consider ducking out like a duck ducking out for the winter freeze,

But instead I think of hiding away from this cool little breeze,

And so I stare at my computer screen more,

And I do so until I feel bored.

I contemplate continuing, stooping to stopping stupid,

But then, I close the document and say “Don’t save”.

****

But then, I come back, feeling sore,

Like a receiver of an arrow from Cupid,

And I open up the document from the screensaver,

And I write this poem.
