The Let Go

Just let it flow...

You were smart and I was not,

No one is serious at seventeen,

Conflicted, broken and lonely,

All the things you said you'd fix for me.

I felt like I was being drowned in your mud.

Feelings and love all at a grasp

Yet met with hesitation

Would it last? Is it true?

All the things you said you'd do...

As much as I'd want to believe,

I never gave you a chance to act out the play you wrote for me,

But was it just that?

Or was it the life you sought out for me?

A naive girl with her heart on her sleeve,

Seeking companions through other means,

I'm sorry I'm not all that you wanted me to be.

But I hope some day you'll find...

             someone like me.

This poem is quite heartbreaking if you read between the lines.
