Petals

Petals

A Poem by Amanda

I don't know you

But I did

When the cherry blossoms bloomed

And you said that you were sorry

I said nothing in return

The petals fell away

And spring began again

And I came to know another

When the petals fell away

I don't like you

But I did

When I found a vase of roses

And a card that said, "I'm sorry."

I said nothing in return

The petals fell away

And spring began again

And I came to like another

When the petals fell away

I don't love you

But I did

When I found a box of petals

Three years old

With notes that screamed, "I'm sorry,"

One too many times

I tossed them to the waves

And spring began again

And I came to love another

When the petals fell away

I don't hate you

But I did

When the cherry blossoms bloomed

And I couldn't say, "I'm sorry,"

But allowed our bridge to burn

The petals fell away

And spring began again

And I came to hate another

When the petals fell away.
