Crushed

Crushed

A Poem by Lavi

When I look into her eyes I see her smile
It tugs at my heart like it wasn't already beating a mile
And though she doesn't see me here
It's enough knowing she won't disappear

The gateway to my heart is open wide
Too long it had been locked by my pride
Now I wait for her presence to graze past
To bring back the sun at long last

But I know it's unlikely she'll see me
Hell, I doubt she could handle someone so unfree
Her carefree smile and wise eyes oppose
My persisting frown and cautioned compose

She'd welcome anyone with open arms
Give her heart freely without raising alarms
A force I couldn't reckon with
An act I'd easily assume as a myth

This is no love song even if it'd be extreme
I know we'll always be an empty color scheme
