Lost in an Illusion

Lost in an Illusion

A Poem by Lavi

Just some thoughts I've conjured lately.

In life, I move forward
In dreams the past confronts me
Where people flash before my eyes
Always out of reach
And nothing makes sense
Like Alice lost in Wonderland
Conversations never spoken resurface
Thoughts turn to actions
And memories left me even there

I could try to leave
Something didn't feel right
But I missed these people too much
And let them tear out my heart
Let them sink their claws into my soul
Pleading that they never let go
Even as I drowned in my own blood

Sometimes I was lost in fiction
Where someone was always helping me to my feet
Even though I knew they weren't real
I still held on
Never wanting to let go

But soon enough I had to wake up
And time went forward once more
