The lesson of growing up

The lesson of growing up

A Poem by Alexa Katerina
"

A young is always constantly wishing to grow up but once they do they shall keep thinking back to when they were young, wishing to be there again. Taste everything in life, don't throw anything away.

"

So small, so tall
It happens so fast,
that you don’t remember what happend last
But I can guess what happend…

All these big people around me
passing me down with strong arms
I’m passed to a room
where I’m consumed of soaps and baby alarms

I guess it was fun having all the attention
But I still cried for mum when they cut the extention

Life is so confusing,
with all its different features
It’s special and amusing
but that’s what it teaches

People are talking all around me,
giving me wide grins
I want to stand up
I want to join in

I don’t know what they’re saying,
I want to talk back
but my lips stay stiff
the skills I lack

The experience of being small is rather terrifying,
yet the experience of being tall is just as diffying

You may be able to walk,
read, write and talk

But you don’t know what choice is wrong or right,
you can’t sleep with mum at night

you feel grown up thats for sure
but when will it be till your prince comes knocking on the door

and here I am holding another little creation
while dad spreads his news half across the nation

She looks up at me
she probably thinks I’m big
but bigger I’ll get!
I think feeling small is something we’ve all met

Don’t rush to grow up
don’t follow the crowd
stand there in the moment
smile and be proud

Because a confusing life is unique
it’s the mistakes that our fun
go on stand there in the moment
don’t turn and run

I know my spelling is bad and that the structure needs improving but it's more the words I am focussing on, the messedge in the poem. Enjoy change.

Wow! What a fascinating write! I can honestly say that I've never thought about life like this, and reading this piece definitely opened up my eyes to a whole new idea. I really liked the fact that the poem was written from the perspective of the subject, and thought that this made it all the more thought-provoking and all the more believable. Nice work,

very wise to look at one's own patterns of behavior; its not about wanting to grow up its about waiting to live life...one thing i am so happy i learned through the practice of writing throughout my life and reading back is not waiting to be happy; life will pass us by and when we make the habit of wishing, dreaming and longing - life doesn't wait - live it and enjoy every stage in every age...it all changes.
