Empty Staircase

Empty Staircase

A Poem by Laura Pruett

So many mixed emotions
Bubbling underneath
Uninterrupted notions
Monsters gnash their teeth

I feel like crying deep inside
But tears no problems solve
This confusion will subside
Only when events resolve

Events resolve only when
Subside will this confusion
No tears solve problems but
Deep inside like crying I feel

Their teeth monsters gnash
Notions uninterrupted
Underneath bubbling
Emotions, many so mixed

Nifty! I love the little turn on the words between the 2nd and 3rd stanzas: >>>This confusion will subside / Only when events resolve / Events resolve only when / Subside will this confusion

Several things, and I am going to be very blunt here in what i think. Don't take what I say to heart, poetry needn't mean anything or need approval from anyone but the writer.

The way you have phrased some of these lines really breaks up the flow of the poem. It sounds good, but the reader might trip over the words easily. The title in no way (that I can see, at least) reflects the poem that you have written. The images are lost in the wording.

sorry for being brutal, but remember, no one has to like it but you :) best of luck
