Cage

Cage

A Poem by Star Cross
"

.

"
She was locked up in that steel cage,
Tweeting and chirping,
Her happiness sang.
Without a care, she lived.

Her wings were binded by that hand,
Squeezed until she squealed,
She saw her life go by,
Alas, heaven called for her.

In the end,
She fell.
Just like you and I.

that poor little birdie.....imagery is good here and the choice of words helps your euphony. the message can be interpreted differently. could be about a bird, innocence, power, control. envy. good work tends to encompass a lot of things while only talking of one. :)

This feels like about the human condition. The first stanza being about our youth, how we seem not even to know we are caged. The second stanza feels like what we feel when the responsibility and reality of our adult lives sets in. And of course the last about the reality of our mortality.

The read sort of snuck up on me until the last stanza and I enjoyed that.
