The Shower Curtain

The Shower Curtain

A Poem by AllauraRose
"

Just thought this was a cool topic

"
The shower curtain
Something I see every day
But that feeling when you close your eyes
Then you immediately try to blink it away

Like when you think there is something there
A person with a knife, or a demon of some kind
But this is just like us being worried that someone sees us
The us we try to hide, we think we hide

We all have skeletons in our closets
Some more than others
But no one wants them out
So when they feel that feeling, they jump

This is a normal reaction
We don't like to feel like someone can read us like an open book
A shower is a place you are supposed to feel safe
But your past is a place you try to escape

The feeling creeps up on you, waiting to attack
When you are most vulnerable
You worry that your past has been freed
When you're just feeling the guilt of what you've done

It's a good metaphor because we do indeed feel more vulnerable naked, in a confined space, doors closed and out of reach, unsure what's on the other side. Our imaginations take us on a journey, like your poem, often facing horrific monsters. So, if that's what you're trying to convey, it works. If not, I enjoyed it nonetheless. :)
