Coming of Age

Coming of Age

A Poem by AllauraRose
"

I cried myself to sleep last night over this.... I need help.

"
We all have a time when we must leave our nest
A time when we must rise up from our mothers chest
We try to stay home and try to protest
This is the end of childhood and beginning of our lengthy unrest

We must leave the place where we once dreamed
A place where we and our friends once schemed
But in the end that feels like a daydream
Now adults, our childhood we have failed to redeem

10th birthday party feels like a life ago
But you must go and be molded like dough
To find what you believe and what you should forgo

You sit thinking, tears in your eyes
As you watch your whole childhood begin to die

A new life has begun, and don't let it drift away

The nostalgia of youth now gone as the next stage of life is now ready to take center stage. A very well written and sentimental poem Great work Allaura. A eloquently unique write & read.

You rhymed very well and wonderfully expressed true points. Though I don't regret passing age😅. Nice .
