The role we play

The role we play

A Poem by AllauraRose
"

My opinion on roles in my relationships.

"
We are all cast in a role when it comes to life
But we don't always get to choose
I play the role of friend

Trust me, that wasn't my first pick
My friend, however, got the lead role
The role of the girl being courted

Whereas I am stuck here to help
But I'm just losing my mind trying

I have the script in my hand and I follow it
But I want to go off book
If I do, I will become the thief and the crook
The selfish one who doesn't care
I don't want to be the villain, yet I am

The director said I was second
But second, is the first to lose
My chances are slim, not that I have any
But at least I came in second for the win

WOW I can't believe that you're only 15! When I was writing at 15, my work was just a sloppy mess.
You're really talented with lots of potential to become an amazing writer!
Second is the first to lose... I really thought about that. How it is so true. But no matter how hard we work, that doesn't give us the excuse to not give it our all!
Keep up the great work!

Your friend,

C. Lee Battaglia

Thanks! My work is still a sloppy mess, I just edit a lot.
I must say that I like your bravery in choosing topics. Your bravery encourages me to try other more personsal pieces.

The decision to accept a role to play is often based on a potential payoff. The freedom of playing "off book" is usually much more engaging and hold one in charge of the risk and the payoff.

I will try if/when I cam. Thanks for your feedback!
I like the flow of this, without rhyming (which most poetry I enjoy does) it still flows musically, which struck me as odd at first because it read like a conversation (also unique). I think you constructed a remarkable example of poetry that breaths naturally without any needed rhyming scheme. (I have no idea what I'm talking about) But I truly enjoyed it :)

Your poetry really speaks to me. We cover similar themes but it’s in the honest and direct way you communicate. I really enjoy it.

The last two lines are my favorite. So powerful!

Thank, I’m glad you liked it! Yeah we do write about similar things, just in different ways.
