Waves of Endearment

Waves of Endearment

A Poem by Allen Smuckler

A time for reflection….

EMPHATIC w     v      s

collidingwith the stoicshore

of Siesta Key Beach…

Melodic, enabling waves

coughing and hacking

heavily upon the shore.

   r    h

A         ing their bodacious,

brassy bodies,

cresting and climaxing

to levels of

complacency and disrespect.

gling toward the

established order of time…

long forgotten, e r o d e d

by the

waning waves

washed wistfully

away by the passing

of time,

unable to recall

or recognize

        lling lines _____ ______ _______ …

And death, always playing its part,

settles and seethes in the dust b     l

                                     o w

of humanity and normalcy.

The lines begin their endless quest

rising from the nadir to the crest.

The clouds o < pen, skies brighten

and the avenue of angels sing.

Unnamed … unknown … unseen …

The angels sing.

Everything about your words speak a deeply moving music... the rhythm.. the flow.. the placed pieces of thought drifting down... like echoes of the mind's ripples... So powerfully spoken, Allen!

Beautiful pontificating about nature and death! I love how you made a unique metaphor about those two topics. And playing around with the font and forming picture with typecast letters was a brilliant idea.

very well done. The words are like the waves.. carrying them in and out with the natural rise and fall of life. Nice job.

Delighted to read Allen again, who writes excellent autobiograhical prose too. This plays with fonts and broken words, lots of great ideas here, excellent.
