a wise man once said to me
don’t spill all the beans
save some things for later
because life's never all it seems
don’t keep your eggs in one basket
but always hold back one or two
like keeping your cards close to your chest
don't show them all you can do
because life is like a field of acorns
and sometimes you're stuck with the nuts
so keep a few beans in your pocket
to buy your way out of those ruts
I gotta hand it to ya Ana.. you just darn well writ a comprehensive & no nonsense survival kit... sow ya did... All Good Things, and power to ya pen too.... Neville:)

Don't know whether you've ever tasted them, but even after the requisite soaking in a net under the water of a running stream for a week, acorns are as bitter as hell. Inedible; I don't know how squirrels eat them.
Keeping those beans is an excellent plan.
Of course, human nuts are another matter, although they are often bitter also.
Thanks, Ana.

I've never eaten them but I've carved whistles out of them.

It is unfortunate, but also comforting to know that others get stuck with nuts too. It makes life a little more bearable. It was the main reason I had to learn to drive, as they seem drawn to sit next to me on public transport. That and the fact its quite painful to keep your face on screensaver mode, as they tell you of their plight of having a family of unicorns to feed. I tried taking different trains and buses, but they follow me everywhere :)

Very wise thoughts mingling with playful wording. I quite like this. It conveys an important message but doesn't take itself too seriously. Insightful yet fun!
Sounds good to me. :)
Thanks for sharing that nugget of wisdom.
