Unearthing Life 15

Unearthing Life 15

A Poem by Anand Sehgal

Keep something always in your pocket;
Save something with care even when the wintry wind
has stopped gushing past the ears;
For all the lunches you accepted once for free,
May return during an odd hour to ask for the price.

A timely warning indeed. Actually, this has a deeply philosophical message .. just how much do we 'owe' in life? Not just in material terms but to our 'carers', family and friends. Also to nature. AND OUR GOD! I think this poem will inspire a lot of thought. Well written indeed.

Strong message contained in your lines. There is no such thing as a free lunch. I like the way you expressed this.

You're welcome.
in giving we receive tenfold. in my poetic imagination i carry a troop of comical characters in the front pocket. that way they get respect.

yes, we will always have to pay the bill eventually...nothing in life really comes free...if we pay it forward often times we are provided pay back...but if we take without giving...the piper comes to collect.
