Thank you

Thank you

A Poem by Ananya
"

When you have nothing but gratitude to offer.

"
Years of sleep
Was awake in my eyes
Refusing to lie down

Nobody ever heard
What my sighs had to say
Nobody listened
The tales of my tears.

I lay awake
Listening to frightening voices
I cried
In my pillow
I knew
There's no life for me now.

Then your kindness
Touched my soul
I learnt to love again
To sleep on your chest
While your arms held me

I closed my weary eyes
Smelled that musk fragrance
Cried on your shoulder
And lived a bit

I have no words
I do not know how to thank you
Tomorrow, I will start a new journey
That will take me away from you

Papa
Thank you so much
For the peace you gave me
I can stay awake now
Stay awake all my life
Just on the memories of that sleep
That came
With the lullaby of your breath

So nicely written. This really came straight from the heart and went straight into the heart. Full of emotion. What a piece for one's father. Parents are statues of sacrifice, affection, kindness and love. We usually have pieces on mothers, but this moves away from the trend. Pretty amazing. Keep writing.
