"Comment allez-vous..."

"Comment allez-vous..."

A Poem by Chris
"

comment? Comme ci, comme ça...

"

Ever feel like you ARE - even if it's just a Charlie Brown?  I actually have hot coffee, am sipping it and having some "Great Pumpkin" thoughts, it's that time of year.  I guess we have to take "ooo's" and "aaah's" * (from Ed Hart's "musical cares") as we find them -- perhaps even if it's as we can only remember them?

"Comment allez-vous..."

s'il vous plait...

I know you

inside

- yesterdays

diamond eyes staring

windows - so brittle

cracks of life ...leaking in

si'l te plait...
- but I do,

know

...you

behind the eyes

each cut dripping - moments

of wishes we can't forget

- but God how we try.

Comments... all the how's

comment

Comme ci, comme ça -

whispers,

thoughts shared - echoes round and around

looking

listening... waiting

staring in the ground - so far away

beneath any notice at all

...so

...People eventually become who we remember they are and yet as each of us "pass" into what we become and fewer are left, how much of each of us truly remains - remembered?

Sometimes we appreciate existings... even ours and yet others only after life happens. So many "froms" make up our lives and beings.

Somedays the "echoes" are too full

- of life

- of breathing

- of silences felt within my eyes.

Seems some days are just capital H - hard and others - its like nothing that happens can touch a person, everything just falls away and nothing gets through to the skin.

"How am I?..."

I used to think I knew

me

but I really didn't know...

"...clouds at all...".          *

Google Translate helped me to understand some fragments of French.
It was a pleasing experience to cruise through the wonderful bilingual work.
The last stanza gives a great realization.
"How am I?..."

I used to think I knew

me

but I really didn't know...

My pleasure.:)
Thank you dear friend.
I love bilingual pieces, and this is definitely a free poem, feels like your soul breathed deep and let out a tremendous gust, love the bit about cracks of life leaking in. Contemplative and sincere. Thanks for sharing.

and comment we will! always glad to find you posting something new .. so .. smoking pumpkins are we?? :)
especially like this:
"..People eventually become who we remember they are and yet as each of us "pass" into what we become and fewer are left, how much of each of us truly remains - remembered?" ... makes me chuckle .. and i love Joni Mitchell .. for the song you mention and the album showing her gazing out to sea and allowing us a full nude backal .. these kinds of poetic ramblings with deep connections can be read over and over ..

Mon français est presque perdue dans la jungle. Par chance, vous parlez mieux anglais que mes officiers ont fait. Bon poème de bonnes pensées.

It seems many times life is exquisite` ennui anticipating fear and followed by loathing. Other days life loafs like a canine Whitman atop a dog house. Dog days are under rated.

Almost?!?... chuckling here. Woof...
as soon as I think I know.. everything changes.. "some days are diamonds and some days are stone" John Denver.. Hard with a capital H.. "we are the only ones that will never leave us.." I read that in a book once.. and though I believe it is true.. I can't help hating that it is.. I cherish ever single connection and mourn each loss even after all these years.. and still.. I sift through the last of the ashes even though they are now stone cold..

oops.. I see that the lyrics were written by Dick Feller.. John Denver made it famous..
You broke my brain trying to remember high school French...*sigh*...sometimes a broken brain is better than a brain that runs too rich, though, yeah? The gray matter needs to get put up on blocks every now and again...so here's me, reading this incredibly profound piece with a broken brain...but blaming the pothole is useless ;-) so I forgive you instead.

And in all of that, there is a stellar review, which I know you know... :-D
