"The Coffee Cup Was Empty...

"The Coffee Cup Was Empty...

A Poem by Chris
"

ä Monday morning kinda thought

"

"The Coffee Cup Was Empty..."

Sometimes I wonder if my pen creaks

as I scribble a should have been forgotten

thought... and then

the chair creaks as I set the pen down.

The journal creaks as I close it and

bind the covers.

The floor creaks as I stand

and step away from the desk.

Life is about adjusting to existence

not existence adjusting to life.

I think I'll write that down.

Life is about adjusting to existence

not existence adjusting to life.

I think I'll write that down.

Oh yeah i can see life forming me into whatever it wants. In the end the mighty mountain becomes dust

works for me...
I feel free and I think your last few lines might qualify as wisdom for the ages, but who knows?

Other than that, you hit the nail on the head.

Think I will use some half n half on this journey. What writers know about writing is that we have to write it down before it is forgotten because it is the only way to fill the cup. So you provided the saucer for my cup runneth over. I like and look forward to reading more.

Short poems like this one can have so much impact with so little words. I love how clever it is and how well thought out each word is.

This is so simply written but so deeply worded as well. The words just slip in the mind and rest there only to boldly jump up later and declare their profoundness. You've painted a lovely picture. Very well written!

I'm glad you came by... thank you for your thoughts Sunni. Take care. Chris

You are most welcome. Take Care, as well!
I take this as :
The way things are
The way things should be
The way we want things to be

And it is quite frustrating when the way things are do not work the way it should be and more the way we want them to be. It requires really powerful lenses to analyze situation and to realize that we need to adjust to existence rather than the opposite.

A wisdom to ponder of which I myself in one point of my life is guilty of failing to figure out whether to change mine-self, change the situation, or pick a different battle.

Some very valid thoughts Belle, thank you for pausing.
i really love this- so relevant to the trials of a writer! i love that last line that you added after the profound statement because i know i definitely do that: think of something and then scramble around to find paper and a pen. great work!
