"Trembles..."

"Trembles..."

A Poem by Chris
"

Being paused

"

I always remember the real world as I read this aloud...

and am still paused every time.

“Trembles…”

How do you define

those particular “moments” -

the ones that …the world held its place

and made you SEE til you couldn’t …see,

wouldn’t see any more?

I remember a place of sea walls,

stone walls - fences…

hills, trees edging glaciers - and cliffs…

unending cliffs.

A place of thousand MILE stares,

as a helicopter smoldered.

All to pause and watch the nothings.

It's amazing how 3 A.M. can actually be any time at all -

when your mind just takes a leap into …itself

where all you hear is the listening

to footsteps overshadowing our own...

Some questions seem to always await just offstage.

Paths not taken can still touch years after.

…so many nightmares lived
and breathed
and yet I dream of gentle smiles and hands being held
the feel of sunshine
caring eyes... how it is to laugh
and how it feels being the me I am.

So catch a breath... touch your stars,

the world will be yours soon enough -

soon enough…

“Trembles…”

What makes you hold your breath?

or pause in mid-step?

What brings a lil girl smile

...and a woman's blush?

Do you daydream in quiet places?

feel the need to be somewhere, a n y w h e r e  else,

do memories of warmer times ghost your thoughts?

are you drawn by the raindrops?

feel the eves heaviness as you lay back and dream?

Do you find you wish you took the other path

- the one that you almost, or could have, or would have but...

or should have, or even wish you might have had any other path to choose?

Sigh, just some thoughts on a woman's way of being…

some thoughts on a woman …living.

Some moments… where fingertips touch

and hearts pause

and eyes see deep inside behind all the walls

and breath can't be found… just caught.

And it isn't exactly a smile on the lips

but it is exactly a hunger recognized and

accepted and

free to fly.

When the tongue-in-cheek ...isn't
and the ayes glisten -
I'm reminded of THAT look
in your eyes
and the way your body
just leans into ...absolutely nothing
...just as you bite your lower lip.

Puuuurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr… yeah I am…

But -

Sigh, we so seldom have the time we wish

To even know - let alone hold on to,

the ones we care about

But in the dark - as we stare into our silence

trembling

we always know who and

what really mattered

…and what didn’t.

there are different kinds of trembles...the ones we get when we are around women like the one in this poem...
but then at 3am...those musings come and we don't even really know what time of day it is...we tremble with inspiration...and in our subconscious, even the choices we didn't make remind us that we always did know what mattered, who mattered, and maybe why we matter.

This is so true...those moments that you feel you are being pressed up against the glass of life and told this is important...drink this in. It does create a ripple effect through your spine...trembles..perfect. Those words crafted again Chris. A deep appreciation of the tremble you get from a lady too, a lovely thing to take notice of I think.

Chris, your words remind me of why I choose this avatar. The blue, the crisp, the rush, the sound, the reflecting, the giving...and all the life underneath. What's a fish to do, but swim?

Would have and should have...went down life's path wishing it had been the other one available? I think your write expresses most of our thoughts and dreams. So many wishes, so many chances blown... life thinking back can appear very sad. Valentine A thought provoking write!

That's for sure... Goodness
Great stuff
Night and Day was created by God (for those who believe in Him). Time is a man-made manipulation. Useful and yet restrictive. We are constantly manipulated by time and it makes us over-think everything and feel like we always have to do or accomplish something or that we are always late somewhere. And time doesn't let us enjoy the still presence and present, or rather our minds driven by time do not. But in the still of the night. At 3 am for some. For me it's after 1 am, and I am a little insomniac is when I can fully be myself with my true thoughts and yearnings. And time feels like it stops at this moment or at least slows down. And I slow down with it and finally enjoy the present and the presence. The moment. This was breathtaking and trembling. And I thought of Eckhart Tolle for some reason. He always speaks of enjoying things as is, accepting and not resisting, and being present in the present.

Hi Nadia...really expressive thoughts you shared... here it's 12:41 A.M. I'm glad you came.
This is so gentle and reflective dear poet. The whole is quite beautifully written, but that last verse, oh, how those words wrap themselves around the reader.

Beccy.

Hello Andy. I appreciate your pausing and expressing your thoughts. Hope to see you again.
We think we have time. When too late, we realise too late...
