"I Guess It Isn't Spring..."

"I Guess It Isn't Spring..."

A Poem by Chris
"

It isn't is it...

"

“I Guess It Isn’t Spring…”

I don't think life

was ever simple...

nor moments unkempt

by less intent.

I spoke with the moon

…of liquid fire

and frost-toned cheeks -

and daylight answered.

The earth’s silence;

so smooth

slick -

the satin breath of wind’s chill

the clouds paused,

I almost…

Almost knew.

The clink of ice -

each chunk of another falling

shard of tomorrows’ moments

held so close until fingers numbed

by life

couldn’t breathe.  No less

did the sunlight’s kiss

reach shadowed lips as

my eyes closed the stare

I stood lost within.

“…hello…” is such a small,

unanswered sound when it’s YOUR voice

holds the silence found

as you await tones that circle

the entire world

before falling unheard into the mire

of …now.

“…I guess it isn’t

Spring…”

Spring always gives me hope. There's life all around us, emerging from a once frozen ground. It makes me feel invincible, like I could write forever.

"The earth’s silence; so smooth
slick -
the satin breath of wind’s chill
the clouds paused,
I almost…
almost knew."

I wish you many springs, Chris...with poetry that gives me pause to sigh.

"It’s your voice holds the silence found as you await tones that circle the entire world..." This inspired me! Too often we remain silent, or fail to act out the words we speak to ourselves... Very thoughtful

And Mother Nature brings forth the cold within as much as the external but thaw's are inevitable...just have to touch the heart strings to defrost the fingers and wiggle the nose to see reflection differently ♥

Spring often makes me stop to think of life and death. Weird, I know.
But it's a time of rebirth, all those things lost over the winter come back to life.
All but our loved ones who have passed on. It's a very peaceful piece of writing, acceptance of what is, will be.

As we all do, just letting the world continue on its way and play catch up later.

Beccy.

I think life is simple, it's just that we make it more complicated than we ought.

A little bit of magic in this rumination; and though I rarely do pick a particular line or part of a poem;
'I almost, almost knew,' is quite exquisite, both in the question it poses and the answer sought.

Beccy.

Thanks Kell... left a smile.
i spoke to the moon .. the earth is silent... ice fractures and begins a slow march downstream .. such a sadness when all the promises of new life and rebirth and awakenings is dull by such a small unanswered sound .... as it echos off hello ...... it must have been a heck of a year!
peace and love brother!

Having the benefit of just experiencing the snowiest winter on record in Boston, I can underline and shout from the snow mountains in our yard, "I guess.it isn't spring." I love the cadence of this poem. It also seems to me to be filled with sadness and pathos, but in the end, holding out for resurrection. Thanks for the inspiration.
