"...Dragon's Scales And Sealing Wax..."

"...Dragon's Scales And Sealing Wax..."

A Poem by Chris
"

A life perspective observed

"

Sometimes we need "busy".

“…Dragon’s Scales And Sealing Wax…”

Sunrise…sunset

coffee

thoughts…pauses

shadows and perspectives

sounds, motion, echoes

comfort…home…even tomorrow…

"The days ARE actually getting "chilly" -

who'd-a-thunk, I miss a tree …more than the neighbor…

before you think that ain't right - it isn't,

but I guess it IS all life-perspective.”

“The tree didn't have a name but it had a presence

a daily presence - a place too

- in all life, in MY life -

a stubborn obstacle that had to be noticed

observed, appreciated -

walked around - immovable

- immutable, and yet it "owned" the seasons -

daily, monthly, yearly.

And it had a draw

a coolness

a look

an effect on all around it - even time.

It both invited and shared,

put off and towered,

carried and protected,

held and nurtured,

breathed and cried

shook, laughed and shivered

…died.

It "spoke" often and was heard ~

was restless in the nights - all but pacing,

seldom understood but …it WAS…here…

somehow …somehow."

"…It feels "chillier" now -

more than merely "wear a jacket" time

a friend is missing…

time has …changed."

Everything …changed

Chris

Utterly brilliant, I am in awe of the wordplay, rhyme choice, and devastation of simplicity with epic lines... Mythic penmanship...

reading gives me pause to reflect ..how important and life sustaining they are ... planting trees and bushes, watching them grow,...strolling amongst them and most important ..listening to them (as you have pointed out) is a wondrous thing ... your author's note is what it is all about ..spot on says i! spot on!

There are trees which talk to me, and listen too... and trees I miss more than many peoples I have known.

I found this moving, the reflections herein match many of own.

" I miss a tree …more than the neighbor" I can feel this.

i can 'feel' it Chris, and it's strength and grounded nature cries out through your work. you do such an amazing job at placing the reader right there. i needed my jacket!! lovely absolutely so!

A simple tree can be so meaningful and the loss of that tree can feel very grave. Because as inanimate as these still-life beings may me, they're so significant in our lives if we learn to feel them.

Yes, and how have you been? Sorry I was absent for so long!

Moi? Walking in the sun, tasting the rain, dealing with existing, and being me...

That sounds exquisite!
I often lie on the grass looking up to the clouds and think of myself as the filling to a mother earth sandwich....without nature I would just be silly looking salami.

aren't we all? Hi Terry - you're always welcome to pause here and be as real as you feel.

I shall!dear poet!
Every living, breathing thing has it's place in the cycle of life. There is a purpose and reason. God only knows. In some way we are all connected. I really enjoyed your poem. Well written!

I like to visit to read and gauge how far behind, talent wise,I am lagging. Each visit seems to see me fall just a wee bit further behind. If there are "master poets" then surely you must be put in amongst them.Beautiful to read
