Academia has changed the meanings and forms of Senyru and Haiku to their own views.  To that end is this:

10 November 2018 - for those that understand “Semper Fi”

For those that don’t …“Happy Birthday”.

“The Toast…”

“Missing Friends”…

I learned AWARENESS

Each friend - ev’ry time.

and

Ends

don’t justify tomorrows…

just nightmares.

and

The sound of wings…

Buzzing… so closely by -

Follows you.

Chris

I never lived it, intellectually I understand......to live a life that others lost but at a cost it lives with you

Ends that lead to nightmares ... brings many things to mind.

Life as we live it...
Losing friends can be as heartbreaking as losing lovers - sometimes even more so as the shift is so much more silent. Beautifully put as always, but also subtle

Sometimes we try to speak ...and sometime we actually do.
Echoes follow as well.... you never disappoint my dear.

This his sad my friend, it sounds as if you was in a war or a fire and lost many friends. This has truly touched my heart.

For that day...the day we.. miss...the day we... weep...the day we ..smile...at the memories and the nightmares. Blessings of spirit!

Semper Fidelis--ever faithful--the Marine Corps motto. My cousin, who died in 'Nam, was a Marine.See Neville there? He knows his Latin!
Haiku, as I was taught, is a non-rhyming,3 line poem, with 7 syllables in the first line, 5 in the second, then 7 again.
If they've changed the rules, F@%# 'em; that's what I say.
I'll keep writin' 'em the way I was taught.
Observe:
Whatever idiotic
Ideas people get,
Keep doing things the right way.

Semper Fidelis... always faithful... remembering & honouring old friends, maybe lost friends and toasting them one and all on an anniversary.. an intriguing poem for sure and I don't feel I have done it the justice it deserves... would it be easier maybe if I was from your side of the pond... I dunno.. what I do know is, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.. Neville
