"You Don't Know..."

"You Don't Know..."

A Poem by Chris

There are two flows here inseparably linked.

"You Don't Know..."

You just don't know -

How things bite ~

What things bite,

on any given day

at any given time

...and the dry eyes

damp mind

tight chest

as you stand, sit -

watch

...time scrolling.

How dark it is

after sunrise.
I made coffee - fresh,

pulled out some hazlenut creamer

- just wanted different today.

"These aren't regrets surfacing,"

--you do what you have to

when you must,

make choices - have decisions

and survive to live with them

- if you can

...or just live with them

- if you can't.

You have hurts, joys...

- moments God envies

and others the devil is still laughing over -

and which are which? - who's to say?

But there IS irony in living

that you don't see or appreciate -

until you do.

Do you think of others

as you are? were?

See them with your eyes?
Expect them to be you's?

- and you don't even understand ...yourself.

Breathes...

Chris

I think this above was the most resonant for me. Wonderful poetry.

I always like your structure - the sentences here trickle casually...conversational style which imparts your wisdom. without such a defined artful vigour (as evident in some of your other poems). I like....

You have seen so much through your eyes, Chris. We all have a different perspective, and think it is somehow better or worse than the others. But in the end, we are all the same - we are all born, we live, and we die.

It is, or it isn't and it's both. Simple, profoundly observed with deep truth and seasoned with just perfect blend of clear site to inspire self refection and insight to the depths within.

your work has a spoken word freestyle quality. very in.the.moment.off.the.dome.
..i think i'd prefer to hear it read aloud. it feels like there are so many layers that become apparent when brought to life with voice.

For me the core of your words are the above. Why? Well, because in that you're the man accepting both the good and flawed in self; the willing wearing of the coat that's you and you alone; carrying self without aggrandizement, just happy to walk in your own shadow, no excuses, not asking for judgements, not making any. You know?

I love this stanza
"Do you think of others
as you are? were?
See them with your eyes?
Expect them to be you's?"

Sometimes we do not realize how fortune we are, because what we had been through in our life for example : The death our beloved one fiance, father, child, etc. As well we all raised diferently as how we act or how we behave. Those scars would be hard to forget, but until we realized that we need to move on and not to live in our past. It is so much painfull, but we have to be thankful for what we have and enjoy our life. As well we need to learn from our mistake and learned from those mistake.

Thanks very much for sharing and have a beautiful day ! :)

This is a scene in a movie where the main character is conflicted and they try to act normal and balanced, but you can tell it's going to go to hell quickly. That's what this piece is about I think. I like it much.
