Cellphone Impatience

Cellphone Impatience

A Poem by Andy Ruffett
"

Sometimes you just have to wait.

"

You stare at your screen and

wait…

one

two

three

But there’s no answer

You pretend to look at the time

but you have a watch

You’re not bothered by that

You just want to respond

So you wait…

one

two

three

1 P.M.-nothing

2 P.M.-something!

But it’s just your dad

3 P.M.-still nothing

It’s raining

You try to read a book

but you’re distracted

and your phone hasn’t vibrated

and you can’t relax

which brings a heart attack

waiting for a text in the back of Mac’s

one

two

three
