Frosty Sidewalk

Frosty Sidewalk

A Poem by Andy Ruffett
"

The journey can be cold and ruff.

"

November frost is caught up in my thoughts

The sky is grey but the leaves change

and I wonder if I’m lost

As I wander the street

I meet cars that pass by

and honk

as if I’m in their way

So I smile and wave

and say,

“O.K.”

and am on my way

as if there is no gate

But then the fence informs me

that I’m unstable

and will not be able to continue

down this same path

So I backtrack

and check out the city lights

lose myself in its eyes

and realize

that tonight

I’ll be alright
