Soul of the SeaA Poem by Andrew RayneSink into everything that I am.I stay under, trying to remember how to breath. I wanted to sink into the way I wanted her. The way the brook wants the sea, the way the moon wants the tides. She was always the shoreline to me. Ran my fingers against the softness of her skin, seeped into the comfort of her, and washed away the tracks that made a mockery of how beautiful she was. At night, I would glide into her arms and love her selfishly. For just that moment, the sound of waves became our favorite soundtrack. However, I loved watching her in the sunlight. So I always played the horizon. Drowned on the idea of loving her. Beneath the waves, I was scared of loving her. Terrified of how my storms, fell asleep against the calm of her smile. The way I dreamed of her more often then I slept. I wonder if she'll ever join me, fall into me the way the moon falls towards the sky, and brings the shore closer to the sea. Sink with me. Sink into the depths of everything that makes us unique. Bring all that is you, I'll give all that is me. And we will fall endlessly beneath the music we loved so much. © 2015 Andrew Rayne |
