Making Peace With Her Past

Making Peace With Her Past

A Story by Anjali
"

Here's expressing what she learned from her previous relationship and how she has moved on gracefully.

"
So here we embark on her journey
That started in her sweet or foolish seventeen's
Met a person with whom she laughed, talked, smiled, was happy all the time she met him
But the days he is absent
She missed him- like hell
She made it a point to get connected with him no matter what or where he was
This made her feel safe and secure
There were many ups and downs as in every other relationship
First, she choose to compromise
But then as her nature was
Spoke all her heart out whenever she found something offensive
And she never noticed the hurt she caused to his ego
In the process, of her true natural behavior

He never choose to let her know what he felt
He never made her understand or guide her to improve

Then came the day- those vivid memories she still remembers now
He told her I am gonna marry a pretty girl and a more hearty person than you
She felt a crack, a bruise in those words
She started pitying herself
But her mind replayed a few memories of their togetherness
She could sense their relation did never brought those genuine smile and happiness on his face
That she saw not once or twice but thrice

When she gifted him a pretty wrist watch since he never arrived on time to meet her
She had known he never wore one and so took efforts
The other occasion
His happiness and smile so appealing while talking to his dear mom
And then the other time she visited him at the worst of his time with some healthy fruits she bought for him

Her eyes were wet on that rainy day
Her soul screamed to stay calm and think
What have you done to the person you love
That he decided to leave you alone
Her mind rewind and replay the whole story
Her soul made her understand to
Let him go
There's no use to plead a person whom you love to stay
For if he had loved you truly and with his complete heart
He would have made efforts to express himself freely
His happiness and beaming smile were rarely a sight when he was with her
She reminded herself
She had never seen him laughing aloud and smiling so genuinely while they had watched together a comedy flick

Her soul again demanded her
Let him go
Let him have his happiness
Maybe he could be happier without her
The same happiness she wished he could have had been when they were together

She stopped pleading and promised herself
Never to meet him again
For his own goodness and happiness.
Though it hurt her a lot
She assembled all the shattered pieces of her heart one by one
Wished him best for his married life
And forced herself a smile to bade him goodbye
But her tears didn't commit with her efforts to show her strength of letting go
For that was the most precious moment of her life
When the best pair in the world- Smile and Cry who never meet at all the time
Had met each other at that very moment

She embraced herself and embarked on a journey unknown
Making peace with her past
Reminding herself every time that
It is now time to be happy again
The same as she used to before ...

This is very well written! You have portrayed this relationship so beautifully, and it taught me that even toxic/bad relationships have a lot to teach you.
