Loneliness

The cause and effect of loneliness

Loneliness husks the heart

And crumples each leafy layer.

First, it digs its nail through the skin

And tears off palpitating veins

Like threads of corn silk.

Soon, it bares the juicy pulp:

The naked aspirations

The exposed desires.

And it bites into the popping flesh

Ripping every nugget of ambition

Squirting the lifeblood of hope.

Finally, it picks the remains from its teeth

And flicks them from its yellowed nails.

Doubt and fear spatters to the ground.

Its costly indeed . On the other hand you could also be describing about its more sinister cousin - Depression . The cause and effect is far reaching and long lasting ...

You had me at WHOA, it's so hard to find distinctive poets online, and you Annie have power and fusion is how to correlate your words with emotions. Great work Annie. And yes i always feel like my work needs more improving, but as poets we are never truly done telling our story.

I damn hate when someone as beautiful as you feel lone ...

Loneliness always attacks on us .. on our mind to take us away into the world of memories...some memories make us smiley but sometimes they don't .. the word loneliness's what that never suits on someone as amazing as you are ... but the word "Happiness" suits on them coz, it's only a smile that makes a world beautiful as you ... Keep on and don't feel ever alone because Angels never look cool when they feel alone/lonesomeness.

Unfortunately, loneliness is relative, so no matter who or where we are, we always feel it. Feelings are a choice, so I try to choose happiness :).

It's impressive how you've come up with this excellent imagery. I can't see the need for the improvement of the cadence because the though flows fluidly. :)

Wow. Just wow. I'm feeling the sadness of loneliness right now and this hit pretty hard. It puts a bit more of a graphic show of what loneliness can do to a person. Especially the line "squirting the lifeblood of hope". Good job
