Nice and Slow

we're snug in bed
him and me
son is in his room writing
it makes me smile
that my son
is so good
with words
am almost jealous
but he's my son

i savour moments
more than before
or i get caught in
the maelstrom of life

in my heart
i believe
(i know)
life should be taken
nice and slow
