The art of my heart

My song in the dark

My words are yours

If only you knew

 

I knew

Right from the moment you looked into my eyes and saw more than just human anatomy staring back at you

I knew

Right from the moment your voice lifted the noise of the world 

I knew

Right from the moment you held my hand

Because that was the moment you held my heart

I knew

 

I love you

If you only knew

I love you

And that’s what’s true

I’m what remains of the broken parade

Come, let’s play this charade

 

I never knew

What I was getting my whole self into

I never knew

The rules of these games, these charades

I never knew

Love would be like that

I never knew

Love had its way of sending you down rabbit holes and blasting you off to a time and space you never read in books written by the authors whose words you make love to every night

I never knew

What love looked like

What love felt like

Until you

 

Do tell me of what you don’t know

I dare you

As you kiss me in the dark

And make love to my heart

Who am I to you?
Do tell me, I dare you

 

I don't need to tell you

Because words are but galaxies and you deserve the entire universe

Let these lips, as we kiss under the watchful gaze of a moon eating its beating heart out, narrate to you everything you need to know

Let these arms be more than arms for they are wings, for they are home

Feel my heart, as it beats your name and your smile and your soul

Because, I promise you

This heart will do more than whisper sweet somethings and everythings

This heart will do more than write songs and letters

This heart will do more than tell

This heart will love

 

You speak of love

As if you know it all

You speak of hearts

As if that were all

You speak of promises

As if to break me

I am broken, shamed, naked

i agree about it making a good song...i like the two voices answering each other....seems one of sincere love, the other of doubt because of past hurt...it's hard to believe again, once we are broken.

we hanging on by the glue of our resolve.
