I Am In Love With The World

This poem was inspired by my love for nature. I feel we as humans have a responsibility to protect our planet, and honestly i think were doing a pretty terrible job at it.

The branches crunch beneath my feet

As echos of my exhale spread throughout the forest

They are over-powered by destruction

As the engines switch on, the world around me flees

Birds scatter into the sky in a moment of panic

As the life without wings tries to run

A moment of silence becomes a moment of disaster

trees that fall around me begin to smash on the forest floor

 

A piercing sound rips through the forest

Whilst the sound of engines begins to get close

An entire ecosystem destroyed within the matter of minutes

Bees nest’s crushed by the fallen trees

Rabbit holes caved in by the tyres of mankind

 

They are getting close now, I can feel it

I feel the ground around me shake

I’m looking past where the trees once stood

Bushes and plants no longer rooted into the ground

Birds no longer singing

I’m alone

 

I look up at the blue sky

And close my eyes

I take a deep breath and lie down

The scent of the earth beneath me makes me think of what once was my home

The tyers are no longer just noise

They are here

As my eyes open and look beyond the sky above

 

I am in love with the world

Such a beautiful write, and honestly it says the exact things that is happening with our planet... Within the blink of an eye we are losing the forests, the places where the animals live, the places where peacocks sing... With the noise of the modern world approaching towards finishing the world soon those beautiful scenes of our planet are in danger... Excellent work and with a powerful message in it...

thank you for your kind words. I agree, we are destroying our planet and their isn't enough being done to stop it. even places that are considered "nature" are controlled by people, with fences and footpaths to control the wildlife. Soon there will be no beautiful landscapes.

Awwww I was totally captivated by this brilliant poem! I loved how by the end of the poem I realized you could be a creature in the wood watching his home be destroyed and you would rather die with the forest than run away...you truly wrote this beautifully and made your point without being preachy ... BRAVO, a creative well done write!
