Beauty Queen

Beauty Queen

A Poem by N. N. Grainger
"

You can never touch her....

"

Making minds that hide behind pixelated eyes-

Dance like fools and fire to flies.

Glued to the screens of the likes of me;

You’re their dream.

But does she look in the mirror and see what they see,

Eurhythmic grace, or just celestial obscene?

Do we know your name, Dream?

Or should I call you Beauty Queen?

This is so very fantasy, and so brilliantly done! I can imagine an elfin goddess when I read this, or a love object from a Keatsian poem. 'Dance like fools and fire to flies', the fricative alliteration here is terrific, accentuating the power of this woman. The line 'you're their dream', gives off the bitter tone of the speaker in just three simple words. I have no criticism, which I find rare on this site. A beautiful, striking piece.

very experimental work! Lovely imagery. Indeed nice poetry!

Eu-rhythmic grace, celestial obscene: naturally brilliant!
