The Vocabulary of the Silent Type

The Vocabulary of the Silent Type

A Poem by King of the North (but only on weekdays)
"

An introverts point of view

"
Under-appreciated and often-times misunderstood
They used to say it was golden
You won’t listen
But you should

A moment of quiet contemplation
Amidst the rhythmic noise of chaos
It wants to speak, to talk, to tell
And yet it knows it cannot yell
So silence, my old friend
Be vocal
Be verbal
You know exactly what to say
Sometimes something
Sometimes nothing
Silence never walks away

Your battery needs recharging
Sometimes music just won’t do
So what can silence possibly offer
That could benefit poor you?

Tell me how it doesn’t feel right
How when in darkest of nights
You crave sounds just to keep yourself calm
You see, life can be stressful
So the silence seems peaceful
But that’s me
So please, by all means
Speak your qualm

Silence does not claim to know the answer to your question
It helps you raise more
Till your head becomes sore
Perhaps they’ll drive you mad
And possibly sad
Yet these questions are vital
In understanding ones title
Self-betterment
Knowledge
Forever be learning
Silence helps appreciate such questions
Your mind is eagerly yearning

And so here we do sit
Whilst you quietly knit
You hear that?
It’s a ticking
The clock?
Now a tocking
It’s surely not stopping
But this is silence is it not?

Wow I love this poem, at first I thought, it was going to be about some one hiding their self in silence, But as I read on I realized that the silence is actually warm, inviting and reflective, rather than cold lonely and dismissive. great work : ])

I enjoyed reading this poem, for the most part the flow was great (apart from the mild use of rhyme but that is just my preference)

The reflective tone at the start of the poem where it talks about the reference of time being golden, sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the poem.

My favorite part of the poem is the end, where you write of silence being there but also there being a ticking clock. It alludes to how we never really experience silence and I think it does so perfectly.
