Deep Sleep

Deep Sleep

A Story by April Flores

She fell into a deep sleep, upon waking she found herself in a pool of her own blood while caught in limbo. Hades was beneath her and heaven above her just out of reach. The iron gates before her that lead to her freedom from her chains. There stood an angel dressed in midnight. The frail fragile spirit shook at the iron gates for entrance. Blood red tears streamed down her face as she trembled with fear, "Let me in! Let me in!" The angel roared with laughter and out came a boom of his voice, "You were never good enough to enter heaven and never bad enough to enter hell; therefore you shall lie in a pool of your spewing blood in limbo for eternity." This she did not want to hear and shoved her hands to her ears to close the echoes of the tragedies she accomplished while on earth. Forever in limbo. Forever in a pool weeping blood. Forever the echoes in her ears! Forever!

Purgatory. A bad place to end. Not good enough for heaven and too good for hell. Could be a beginning of a journey. Thank you April for sharing your amazing words and thoughts.
