~My Prayer~

thank you for your thoughts and prayers

I am a nurse… I help families everyday deal with pain, sadness, loss, and injury… It is what I do… Right now, my baby brother, who I raised as my own, is fighting for his life, hit by a drunk driver,  in a hospital bed- alone, on the other side of the country and I cannot help the one person I love most in this world.. I cannot begin to tell you how helpless I feel… This is my prayer I share with you…

Without you, I would know not of love

a light in a life thus dreary

now, fighting for your life

my heart worn and weary.

 

You gave my life meaning

sweet spirit so giving

precious soul, my everything

my only reason for living.

 

When I wanted to shut out the world

scared, hurt and alone

you held my heart in your hands

with love I’d  never known.

 

My rainbow amongst the storms

lifting me from despair

I would give anything in the world

just to be there.

 

Overwhelmed with helplessness

to my knees I must fall

searching for his healing aid

upon his name I will call.

 

Crying out to the heavens

hear my desperate plea

have mercy on the innocent

please don’t take him from me!

Well that hits close to home for me… I had a girlfriend I lived with that was killed by a drunk driver… I was out of town with my band, I still feel the guilt of not being there when it happened.

My prayers are with you and your brother, I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I wish people would learn that when they drive drunk it is not just themselves that they are putting in danger, it is everyone around them. As a close and dear (best) friend of mine likes to say, just breathe.

It is heartbreaking to hear what has happened and while my good intentions can do little to expedite or fix that which is broken, you have my ear, any time, any place.

Cry if you need to, shout, yell and scream - this is about how you feel so worry not about how myself or others take it - those who care will let you release all that and still come back with sympathy and kindness without issue or judgments.

This one will be short as we all ready discussed this a bit in private and you know how to contact me should you choose to, want to or need to.

I hope for the best though for both him and his girlfriend as this must be devastating to you but I also feel it needs to be about and for him too. Right now he needs strength from those that he adores and those that adore him back.

April im so sorry this has happened :( The relationship and closeness you have had with your brother is now in full flight. Even though apart you are holding his hand and he knows you are near. As his Guardian Angel you are there for him regardless of distance my dear positive thoughts and prayers will meet him as long as you keep putting them out there.
