glass armor

glass armor

A Poem by Travis K. Lewis

crystallized
my heart radiates beneath
through every prism
i shine
from my knees i have risen
could this be freedom
or the cold stone of a prison?

honest
without a promise
lie the accused
naked
& abused

i lie there,
trembling in a courtyard of stone
reconciling the past
only to walk alone

crystallized
as the storm draws near
i've realized
the fire i've held
beneath me
is the strength i need
to break free

i stand broad
my soul embracing the rain
as it cleanses me of this fraud

i wake
with light in my eyes
in this new skin
laying pure
ready to begin
