music of the circumstances

This is part of the love collection, but to be honest, I do not remember the number of the poem. It could be the seventh poem,but does it really matter? Enjoy.

-the music of the circumstances-

When the notes are moaning in my ear, 

I escape in your voice

which, with its bass and sultryness 

leads me to a ballroom of bliss

and dances me to the spanish tango

When the guitars are screaming,

I wish for you to show me kindness,

for you to tell me

that there is some left

in a world of rage and theft

of human compassion 

When the riff becomes unbearable, 

I' d kill for your control

I'd want to be played like an instrument 

under your skilful fingers 

and forget about the melancholy

of the late hours

When the drums get dangerous like bombs

I fight wars in my mind with your vigor

Wars that noone can see

except in my eyes, which

mirror the combat inside

When the jazz singer breathes the words

I hear your laughter and that's a blessing 

because I don' t always long for silence

but rather a beautiful noise

When violins begin to cry 

I try to adopt your optimism

for my pesimism has graduated 

to a black, vicious, void hole

that feeds off my good traits

more often than not

I cope with the insanity of living 

every day, with every nerve I have

Every nerve you set afire

with your music 

  

Author's Note

So, another "you" themed poem. I can't seem to get enough of them. The inspiration for this one came from a book I have recently finished. It's called "The Dress Thief" by Natalie Meg Evans and is set in the 1930's in Paris. You can check it out if you like. It was a bit out of my sphere of interests but I enjoyed it in the end. Well, the music in this poem represents different aspects and moments in life and the "you" is helping me deal with them. He/she serves as a guiding light in the insanity that is associated with life. What can an unbearable riff actually be in everyday life? That's a clue for you. Thank you in advance from taking the time to read this piece and I sincerely hope you enjoy.
