Moon Envy

Moon Envy

A Poem by Arra Frost
"

Should you really envy the moon? Yes it's beautiful and exotic, but is it worth it?

"
The crescent moon shimmers
In the calm water beside me.
Staring at me,
Testing me,
Judging me,
Or is it?
The moon has all the night sky to itself
But there it is, forever trapped
Left alone in its starry sky,
Alone.
I, however,
Am as free as the wind itself.
I go anywhere I please
Without consequence.
Tasting the humid, dry, fresh or stale airs
Feeling the terrain beneath my bare feet.
But the moon
Cannot experience anything
It sees from up above.
That's how I know
That the eyes it watches me with
Are not judging
But jealous of the freedom I possess.
So I do not envy the beautiful moon,
I pity it.
