Winning the Human Race.

Winning the Human Race.

A Poem by Asa Downing
"

A view on humanity.

"
Imagine if all of humanity,
All that makes up me and you
Was all summed up as just one entity.
and not a large diverse crew.

What face would you to give to this being,
when it is all faces as one?
All races all sexes everything
and all those under the sun.

If you compare how long we've been here
to when the dinosaurs where extinct,
we're just a child, sweet and dear.
At an age critical and distinct.

Take a moment to imagine him/her
and remember that fave every day,
and let me tell you all something for sure;
Kids are affected by what you say!

Don't go around saying people are dumb!
And sheeple is not a nice thing to say!
Don't call for a doomsday or say we are done.
Instead protect this child every day.

Nourish support and help this kid grow.
spoil it like a child should be loved!
It's the only group we've come to know,
and wish for some parent from above.

You have it all down pat, exactly as it should be between children and the adults who bore them. How it should be IS in this society not how it is many times and writing such as yours brings reminder!

Despite the dark look from the author's profile picture, this piece is a nice, hopeful series of stanzas that should inspire hope in all who read this.

a wonderfully contemplative first three stanzas which then winds through the importance of how we use our words with younglings who are the future~ the correct nourishment of a child's soul develops a complete adult who can function as a giver~ a beneficient being on the planet~but how many nowdays take or have the time in this rush rush society to actually invest in a child and his/her emotional and spiritual future~ powerful poem~

This is remarkably interesting. You're very good as a poet. I enjoyed how you brought up those who do wrong in this world and almost scolded them. I can see you as a lecturer that no one thinks is boring. Excellent ;)

I'll be honest, I loved the concept of the first few stanzas but I don't know how you go from being one entity to a child for half the poem... just really threw me off and understanding what you're talking about metaphorically. Other than that, the stanzas i DID understand were very well thought out and unique in thought.

You atomatically captivated my attention in the first few sentaces because of that question... I never really thought of asking a question at the beginning of a poem until now...

I loved how you made it so many questions! That makes it so the read doesn't just skim the poem but actually read and comprehend it because they have to sit there and try to answer the questions you presented them with.

Then, it was like you began filling the reader in on what was happening in the race to win humanity... how we can win it (such as what to do since children look up to elders)

All in all, it was an amazing poem!:)
