Fable

Fable

A Poem by Heather Anne

Why don’t you weave,

Your intricate web of lies.

I’ll let you create, your

never ending pit of fables.

I’ll believe the illusions

Which you created.

With each word ,

Of your lying tongue.

I’ll imagine a world,

Where you don’t exist.

My mind so powerful,

I can erase your face.

Why not pile on,

A few more untruths.

Hoping I’ll believe,

I imagined it all.

Why not scatter ,

A few little truths,

To make it all seem

A lot more believable.

I’ll keep my thoughts,

The pain throughout,

All tightly sealed,

Away forever.

I’ll survive each day,

Act out the lies,

Until one day,

It’ll be less difficult.

Why don’t you,

Stand as spectator.

Watching my life,

Through another’s eyes.

Why didn’t you leave

That first time alone?

Instead you came back

More than once.

I’ll ignore the days

Pretend at night

Hide in darkness

Oh so bright.

I’ll hide the truth

From even myself

Stop the sobbing

Night by night.
