Earthen Angel

Earthen Angel

A Poem by Ashira Macy
"

This is for April. I know you have been going through a hard time, but I just want you to know that there are a lot of people who want to support you, and help you through it.

"

Sweet, steadfast angel

With a teeming, tragic past.

Crying, thrashing, screaming out

To end her pain so vast.

Doll-faced with a secret

Echoed chaos and despair.

Slams the door and locks it

Just pretends that it’s not there.

A system well-constructed

Until a stormy day,

A demon burst out from the earth

And dragged her faith away.

That precious, flickering soul

That kept her love alight,

Ascending to his place in the sky

To bathe her in his light.

Live on dear earthen angel,

With knowledge this is true…

You watched him, raised him,

Now it is he who watches over you.

My fav stanza is #3, because it talks about how we plan and build our faith; but then a tragedy can sorely try it. It is then that we learn if we really possessed the faith to begin with. This nice rhymer reminds the griever that the departed one is still there; just in a different place.

April must have been so dear to you. Your words and sentiments are so gentle and powerful. I have seen so much pain and suffering in my life that it is rare that I can be so moved.

Thank you for sharing this...

I loved the way this built as you moved it forwards and the way you held to the strong emotional ties you built with the reader at the outset.

Thank you Minstrel, I am happy you enjoyed it.
This is beautifully written with such tender loving care, what a sweet sentiment for a friend in dire straits, just lovely Ashira, can't say more. I'm sure April is deeply touched by your gentle gesture.

Thank you Frieda, I just felt that she needed some words of encouragement.
Wonderfully pieced together Ashira,

I see you've found April's talent for perfect ABCB couplets, it's a beautiful dedication, if I could make one tiny suggestion, just for the sake of a perfect metaphor? The final two lines might read

'You watched him and raised him,
Now the raised watches over you'

Hate to tamper with anything so personal but there's such a strong message of transcendence here i thought this might drive it home, that being said, it's beautiful as is, like most of your work, hats off.

Thank you so much Robin, I appreciate your feedback as always, and glad you enjoyed it.
Auau! Phonetically put. I just found this and quickly would like to adhere to the sentiments expressed in this beautifull writing. Not much else to add really and no need either just to say to all involved in the writing and on the receiving end is great to see people thinking about one another.

Thankyou Ashira

Thanks so much John.
I have met April recently, and the little I know of her, can be surmised in this piece. She, indeed is a strong soul, and April, we all are here for you. You can talk to any of us any time you wish, about anything. Take care, and CHEERS TO APRIL.

Ashira- Very beautifully penned. Thanks for sharing it. :'-)
