Winter, Again

Winter, Again

A Poem by Xanthous Crow
"

Winter is here, again.
Back for good this time 'round
Or so it seems.
This time of year is harsh and cold,
Leaving me downtrodden and bitter,
Caught in the undertow of your life,
Tossed and churned in your wake.
I've spent too much time watching the snow;
And the crowds, laughing,
Feeling holiday cheer,
Longing to feel it, too.
You've spent too much time growing -
Becoming who you are;
A beautiful woman,
Well on her way.
But now I'm tired,
And now I'm leaving.
Please don't build me up again.
I'll come back to bloom
In the sunny spring:
A pretty chrysanthemum,
Throwing the frost off his petals
Only to wilt when winter comes 'round again.
