After Rain

After Rain

A Poem by Devashish Kumar

Did you go outside?
Weather is absolutely amazing.

The trees are more green
after they have been washed in the rain.
Adorned with diamond-like rain drops,
they look picturesque.

The slow breeze has a
light invigorating fragrance.
The mild intoxicating effect it has
is little difficult to describe.

The birds have come alive.
Chirruping mindlessly they are
running hither and thither enjoying this
ephemeral break from draining summer.

When you walk under the trees,
bits of drizzle- enough to cloud your view
if you wear specs like me
but not enough to drench you-
will acknowledge your presence.

The ‘world’ looks fresh.
Bathed and washed.

O, I forgot.
The sky is draped in white grey clouds.

Almost perfect.
Take a walk, if you can.
