A Blank Page

A Blank Page

A Poem by Devashish Kumar

You could be filled with
brilliant colours of the setting sun,
shimmering light of twinkling stars,
earthy fragrance of after-showers.

You could tell magnificent stories of
bloody wars and trysts with destinies,
of winged animals and singing birds,
of timeless love and melancholy.

You could bring to life
unicorns of magical fairylands,
little green men in foreign worlds
and great people of dead past.

You could immortalise
the struggle for rights and liberties-
of righteous men fighting injustices,
fearless women defying stereotypes.

Sadly you are but a blank page
staring blankly at the blankness of
this ever-expanding blank universe.
